Jungle Themed Christmas Party

Client: Leading IT Systems Provider

Client's Objectives:

This was the fourth marquee Christmas party we had been involved with for this client. To avoid the event becoming 'stale' the client wanted to give staff a better party than ever before. They looked to Complete Events to provide another Turn-Key party within a marquee environment upon their staff car park.

Having originally carefully inspected the area available we designed the most effective marquee solution for the client's requirements and the site's potential. Choosing to have a party upon their premises held many advantages for the client, including:

• Their staff did not have to travel excessive distances, saving coach hire, accommodation and other considerable costs
• The event did not suffer from externally imposed time restrictions
• The party was designed bespoke for the client, without rules and regulations that a fixed venue can often impose, such as tied catering and drink regulations
• There were no venue or facility fees, and the client controlled the build and de-rig times to minimise disruption within their grounds
• A greater sense of 'ownership' of the event, and anticipation about the party itself: the fact that staff could see the temporary structures being built outside their offices, but have no idea as to the interior décor or the style & content of the party itself meant that an almost tangible 'buzz' ran through the company

An imaginative and slickly organised party was required, centered around a chosen theme. Having put forward a selection of original themes, that of 'Jungle' was chosen by the client, and we set about researching in detail suitable decoration, entertainment, food and drink.

Walk-through:

Upon arrival guests entered a Reception area underneath a fibre-optic nightsky, richly decorated with vines and fantastic balloon trees, where they were invited to leave coats with cloakroom staff. They were greeted by comedy Tarzan & Family with Jungle Juice reception drinks.

Guests then entered the huge main entertainment zone of the complex, where they were immediately struck by the dense theming: bespoke green roof linings, literally hundreds of vines, palms and other plants, jungle shack raffle stall, critters and creatures hanging from the roof and nestling amongst the undergrowth, large tropical waterfall, gobo images projected onto walls and floor...

With the DJ playing themed music for the first part of the party, followed by an excellent ten piece band, the guests were entertained by a range of activities and performances.

A very busy but slickly-run free bar (underneath a canopy of snakes!) kept palettes refreshed.

A large annexe housed the food area, where guests ate a variety of themed food from several outlets, and sat at occasional tables decorated with animal print table cloths and balloons.

By late evening the large dance-floor was full to capacity, with a second set from the main band and a fantastic finale mix by the DJ.

We know that a good time has been had when it takes over an hour to clear all guests from the marquee to begin the clearance operation!

• Marquee design & installation, including a variety of marquee spans to suit both complicated party requirements and location restrictions, integral solid flooring system, fibre-optic starlight & bespoke themed linings
• Theming design & installation
• All related event infrastructure and plant, including generators, heating, power distribution, external lighting, skips and waste disposal, luxury toilet facilities
• Full Interior lighting design, including sophisticated intelligent lighting rig and themed lighting
• Quality themed catering from a variety of food stalls and outlets within a themed environment
• Furniture
• Management and running of a very busy free bar!
• All entertainment, including quality band, disco, a host of walk-around performers, acrobats, limbo artistes & participatory competition, African magician, simulators and games, all centred around the Jungle theme
• All event personnel and ancillary staff, including St.John's Ambulance, professional event security, bar staff, cloak room staff, lighting engineers, electrical engineers etc. All staff had a thorough fire & safety briefing prior to the event start, to ensure maximum awareness in the unlikely event of an emergency
• Thorough site clearance and clean up to leave no trace of our presence

With a dedicated team designing and organising the event from its conception, and over 60 event staff ensuring the party's success on the night, the client was assured a fantastic send-off to the year!
